The Trucker Hat Trend

What's with the trucker hats? I'm not sure who, where or why but in the last 3 to 4 years there has developed a very (in my opinion) goofy trend of wearing trucker hats. What is a trucker hat? Well that's easy, a trucker hat is a hat that looks about as silly and out of place as most of the other articles of clothing a trucker wears. No, in all seriousness, a trucker hat is usually a cheaply made mesh hat, let's say the mesh is bright yellow for this example explanation. The front part of the hat is most always times plain white no matter what color the mesh is. This is wear the cheaply made hat gets its cheaply printed logo. Something like "Truckerbury Farms" or "I Love Trucks" would be appropriate. Then the last little detail is that the bill of the hat is always the same bright obnoxious color as the mesh of the hat, in this case bright yellow. Am I painting a clear picture of how simple and stupid these hats are? Good.

Now, why the heck are they trendy all of a sudden. This part is simple yet amazing to me. The answer is... because someone said they were. That's it. Not just anyone mind you, but a young, influential celebrity gets to decide that they want to look stupid at random. Maybe its a fun game these celebrities play. The game being called "What's the silliest thing I can make cool". There you have it. They wore a trucker hat once and it the youth of America, (who before wouldn't be caught dead in a trucker hat) overnight develops a craze, and a $1.95 hat that truckers can be seen wearing becomes $24.95 at your local mall.

My only question is this... Does this mean truckers are cool to kids now?

I know you'll never believe this, but I started the trucker hat trend. I bought one when I was 7 years old (I'm 18 now, for reference), at the Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha, WI. I bought it because it looked absolutely ridiculous. When I was about 12-13, so about 2001ish, I decided to start wearing it everyday. At first it was ridiculed, but then people started to admire it, and the next thing I knew, Ashton Kutcher was wearing it.
